Flat Princess' Visit

For the last few weeks I've had the pleasure of having Flat Princess over for a visit. I know you are now wondering just who Flat Princess is? Well, she's the brilliant flat doll made by Nerine in Australia and she's being sent around the world:-) She first went to California to visit Needled Mom and then she came to visit me...now she's on her way to Western Australia to visit with Sue:-) With everything that was going on around here, poor Flat Princess has been left to her own devices most days but I did spend an afternoon with her showing her around my area. Here is her adventure here in Northern Ontario, Canada....

Here we are in front of my house...you'll have to click on the picture to enlarge so that you can see her more properly:-)

I was showing her my faerie garden and look who she got cozy with, the King Frog himself! hehe

She was loving sitting on my hydrangeas...

My faeries lent her a pair of wings and she posed with them...

We first went to the casino....don't ask how much money she lost...ahem!!!

We then made our way to Science North, our internationally renowned science centre offering hands on exhibits encouraging visitors to play and explore....they need to trim the trees so that we could see the building better! lol

Here's a better picture of it...isn't it neat how it's shaped like a snowflake?

She got to see the dinosaur which is on display on the Science North grounds. I wanted her to take a ride on it but she refused! It's animated and it scared the bejeebers out of her when it started to move and roar...ok, ok, it scared ME! lol

Our next stop was to visit one of Sudbury's top tourist attractions the Big Nickel. The Big Nickel is a nine-metre (30 ft) replica of a 1951 Canadian nickel and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest coin.

Here she is posing on the other side of it....

Here we are together under the Big Nickel....

In this picture, you can see the Inco Superstack. The Inco Superstack, with a height of 380 meters (1,247 ft), is the tallest chimney in Canada and the Western hemisphere and the second tallest freestanding chimney in the world. It is also the second tallest freestanding structure of any type in Canada, ranking behind the CN Tower but ahead of First Canadian Place, and the 27th tallest free standing structure in the world. The Superstack sits atop the largest nickel smelting operation in the world.

We ended our day together by visiting Onaping Falls....the falls are located at the edge of the Sudbury Basin, a 2 billion year old impact crater. The whole area is geologically significant. It was a very dry Spring as well as Summer, so there isn't as much water coming down as there usually is. In 1953 A.Y. Jackson one of the founding members of the "Group of Seven", visited this site and painted "Spring on the Onaping River". Two years later the painting was purchased by a group of students and placed in the Sudbury Secondary School. Shortly after Jackson's death in April of 1974 the painting was stolen and has not been recovered.

I do hope she has enjoyed herself, I know I did:-) If you want to follow the adventure's of Flat Princess, click here!! I'm very much looking forward to reading all about the places she will be visiting in the future. Hugs xoxox

  5. That was so cute!! I have a tiny clay 'person' that I use in my blog sometimes! It's so much fun - like going back to my childhood and playing with dolls!
We're never too old, right? :)
